A GROWING HISTORY
Theut's Flower Barn began as the childhood dream of Bob Theut Sr. who grew up working on a flower farm in Macomb, Michigan. While a bricklayer by trade, Bob always dreamed of having his own farm. In 1978 he bought an $800 rototiller and began producing field grown Creeping Phlox for Frank's Nursery. The dream continued on as Bob bought property in Ray Twp and began growing Pansies and a few other crops. He bought two small greenhouses from someone going out of business and began to dabble in annuals. While still bricklaying, Bob continued to farm, working day and night to make ends meet. With the birth of two sons and two daughters, he really had a new reason to build his business, as he dreamed of farming full time along with a new generation. Bob's sons, Robert III and Jim, are now both seasoned greenhouse growers working side by side with their father. Robert controls sales and production, while Jim oversees quality control. Currently, Theut's Flower Barn has approximately 18 acres of greenhouse structures as well as a seasonal retail garden center in St. Clair. With the addition of multiple shipping options, custom made one way racks and an improved fleet of trucks, we are able to efficiently ship around the corner and across the states! And we still continue to improve and grow... |
